Western Tracking Institute Presents:
San Diego County Plant Communities Workshop Series February 20, March 13, April 17, May 1, and May 22: Saturdays 8 am – 12 pm Gain a solid working knowledge of plants and associated wildlife through this specialized five-session workshop. Upon completion of this series, your tracking capabilities will be significantly enhanced when looking onto a San Diego County landscape. Course Description: One of the most bio-diverse regions in the world, San Diego is home to 1,000's of native plants. In this class we will survey five different and unique bio-zones and take a close look at the plant groups that live there. Students will become familiar with the most often seen plants as well as some of the rarest and most obscure plants in our area. The five Saturday sessions will each be held in a different San Diego County location through the spring to take advantage of the various bloom times.

Instructor Mike Crouse’s study of Southern California
native plant communities and the individual plants within those communities has been enhanced by extensive time in the field with some of the best plant experts in the country. Mike has attained Level III certification in Tracking (in both So. California and Washington State) and Level III in Trailing as well. Currently, Mike is conducting native and rare plant surveys for SDSU at two of its reserve properties in San Diego County and continues to work with Tom Chester (see www.tchester.org ) on a complete flora of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. |
